Guess the sweets in the jar: We held this competition prior to regionals to raise the funds needed for kit costs. We charged a very low fee of 50p for 3 guesses, and the winner received a 2kg box of Halloween themed sweets. This was the firt event where we got the community involved.

ODEON ticket raffle: we used this to re-engage the community. This was not a profitable event and we anticipated so. It was made for the fun and buzz of the students and to get back onto the newsletter.

This was our form of in school promotion.

The reaction time test was made to encourage younger years into STEM, especially f1 in schools. This was free of cost and the winner received a prize of sweets, a remarkably popular prize in a secondary school.

This was successful. There was a high level of participation and younger years began to express interest.

During the winter, Sascha and Lukas kickstarted their social sustainability programme. We began accepting donations and bringing the homeless hot drinks, instant drink packets and healthy foods like bananas.

After stopping by to talk, we also acknowledged that loneliness is a big factor in homeless lifestyles so we stopped for a chat wherever we could.

Admittedly, this was our least reliable form of social sustainability as there was no guarantee of finding people that we could help: a lot of the time we returned to a previous area and there was no one there

Alex and Asaph organised a luxury hamper to be donated to a food bank. This included people from our yearly community donating food items and Christmas themed crackers, napkins, etc

This was extremely successful, with two large boxes being filled, wrapped and donated.

Environmental Sustainability

We aim to keep our carbon footprint as low as humanly possible.

Our kit is ethically supplied by teeone, sponsored by JinPingDu, and our pit display is made of soy based inks and recycled materials.

Our paint is low-VOC and the unused paint will be donated to our school art department.

Economic Sustainability

We try to supply our kit locally, returning to our community the money they invested in us; we bought from: teeone and sm-print. Businesses in Durham have willingly advertised our cause in their shops.
